The ATV's attitude control and braking manoeuvres are controlled by 28 x 200 N bipropellant thrusters supplied by the Orbital Propulsion Centre, Lampoldshausen. The thrusters are also used to assist orbit raising of the ISS as well as providing redundancy in the event of a main engine failure.
